How to Teach Students to Use AI Tools Responsibly in Their Learning
AI tools are already in students' hands. They're using them to draft essays, solve problems, answer questions, and generate ideas — whether teachers explicitly allow it or not. The choice isn't between "students use AI" and "students don't use AI." It's between "students use AI with guidance" and "students use AI without guidance."
Teachers who ban AI and try to enforce the ban through detection tools are playing a losing game: detection tools produce false positives that punish honest students and can be evaded by students who are motivated to evade them.
