Beyond 'Excellent Student'

• "[Student] demonstrates strong individual skills and is working on developing collaborative skills in group settings. We are practicing active listening and building on others' ideas."
• "[Student] excels in areas of personal interest and is working on maintaining consistent effort across all subjects, including those that do not come as naturally."

Social and Emotional Comments

Gifted students sometimes struggle socially or emotionally. Comments should address this honestly when relevant:

• "[Student] is developing strategies for managing frustration when work does not come easily, which is an important skill as academic challenges increase."
• "[Student] is learning to appreciate different perspectives and paces of learning among classmates."
